Humanities Specialist Teacher (Y5-Y7) - Riyadh(Ref: 3762)

Aldenham Prep Riyadh is part of the Aldenham Education Group and is integrated very closely with Aldenham School in the UK, which was founded in 1597. It opened to its first students in September 2022 and, due to continued growth, there is an outstanding opportunity for an Humanities Specialist Teacher (Year 5 - Year 7) to join a talented and dedicated team.

Suitably qualified and experienced candidates may have the chance subsequently to undertake a leadership or management role, and grow with the group as it expands its network of schools.

Class Teachers have a responsibility for delivering the majority of the curriculum to their class, but will work closely with colleagues ensuring a collaborative approach to teaching and learning across the Year Group. The children therefore receive the same opportunities, and all teachers feel supported by a strong team.

Arabic, Islamic, Music and PE will be taught by specialist teachers to enhance the curriculum. Each class receives support from a dedicated Teaching Assistant.

Teaching and Learning:

You will be expected to:

  • deliver our broad and balanced curriculum
  • deliver well-planned, engaging and creative lessons, ensuring that the needs of all children are met
  • facilitate and encourage high quality learning which provides children with the opportunity to achieve their full potential
  • use technology to enhance teaching and support learning

  • make effective use of Teaching Support Assistants to support children in class
  • follow the Aldenham procedures for assessing, recording and reporting on children's achievements and to use this information effectively to influence future learning and convey progress in report writing
  • provide students with regular written and oral feedback and encourage them to reflect and respond to their feedback
  • participate fully in co-curricular and activity programmes

Person Specification:

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • relevant Bachelor's Degree, ideally gained at a UK University
  • UK Postgraduate Certificate of Education or Qualified Teacher Status
  • minimum of two years' relevant teaching experience, ideally
  • excellent working knowledge of the National Curriculum of England
  • a strong academic background, stature and experience that will command the respect of pupils, parents, colleagues and the wider community
  • a commitment to academic progress and the welfare and safeguarding of students
  • knowledge and understanding of recent educational developments and best practice

Desirable skills and experience: 

  • an understanding of the demands of a UK independent school environment
  • experience working with children who have English as an Additional Language
  • a secure knowledge of using technology to support education
